A nonprofit, parent cooperative preschool in the heart of Shelburne, Vermont. Parent involvement plays a large role in a child's educational success.
Shelburne Nursery School is a parent cooperative and therefore relies on parents to help in as many ways as possible. Although our teachers develop the curriculum and teach all classes, all parents are a part of the organization and administration of the school. This allows parents the opportunity to play an important role in your child's first school experience. Each family agrees to our Parent C

The PreSchoolers had the opportunity to explore worms. They observed, took notes and drew pictures of these βgreasyβ creatures.

Our PreK friends have been searching for earthworms on the playground recently, so we thought weβd add some science to their interest.
We explored worms in the art room this week - learning facts about their bodies, how they breathe and move. Why do we see so many when it rains? What do they eat? We did some observations and note taking to learn if worms like sun or shade, as well as if they prefer wet or dry. Some of us looked on, while others dove right in to hold our slimy new friends πͺ±

As a nationally accredited school, SNS was happy to participate in the Week of the Young Child, celebrating early learning, teachers and families. We had a fun week engaging in daily themed activities:
Music Monday: Rachel played her guitar and students explored drums and rain sticks.
Tasty Tuesday: we sampled different kinds of fruit and mango salsa.β
Work Together Wednesday: we tried partner marble painting as well as cleaned up the garden and planted seeds.
Artsy Thursday: we observed and drew flowers and made Van Gogh / Monet inspired pieces
Family Friday: we hiked to the Troll Bridge!
We love the Week of the Young Child βοΈ
