"Imagine a world where every child, regardless of their background, was surrounded with books, stories, and a love for reading,” said Dolly Parton, who passed away today at the age of 80. While she leaves behind countless songs, performances in films, and more, one of the most enduring aspects of her legacy is not in entertainment, but is instead in children's literacy. Learn about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, and how to sign your child up for a free book each month, at the link in the first comment.

🍎📚 The first day of school can bring butterflies for every child…

A new teacher. A new classroom. New expectations. It’s completely normal for children to feel a little nervous as they begin a new school year.

But sometimes those butterflies are more than just first-day jitters.

For some students, back-to-school worries may sound like:
“Will I have to read out loud?”
“What if I can’t keep up?”
“What if everyone else understands except me?”
“What if this year is as hard as last year?”

When school feels overwhelming, anxiety can sometimes be a child’s way of communicating that something feels difficult.

A child’s worry may not mean they aren’t trying. It may be a sign that they need the right support, the right strategies, and someone who understands the way they learn.

Because every child deserves to walk into the classroom thinking, “I can do this.”

A few ways to help ease those back-to-school nerves:
•Talk about what your child is excited about (not just what they’re worried about)
•Practice the new routine before the first day
•Visit the school, classroom, or meet the teacher if possible
•Remind your child of times they have overcome something hard before
•Create a calm morning routine with extra time for connection

As we head into a new school year, we are so excited to continue walking alongside students and families in our community. Whether your child needs individualized support, help building skills, or even just a listening ear from someone who understands, we are always here to support you!
