Governor Tony Evers has proclaimed October 2025 as HEAD START AWARENESS MONTH in Wisconsin!
For 60 years, Head Start has provided essential early learning, health services, and family support to Wisconsin's most vulnerable children. Our programs serve tens of thousands of kids each year with 4,000+ dedicated staff and 18,000 volunteers and parents.
While the federal government shutdown began last night, most Head Start programs will continue operating in the short term. Very few programs receive funding on October 1st, so immediate disruptions are unlikely—but a prolonged shutdown could threaten services.
Contact your representatives and urge them to:
✅ End the shutdown quickly
✅ Pass appropriations funding for child care and early learning
✅ Protect services for Wisconsin's children and families
This month, we celebrate 60 years of Head Start's incredible impact—and we remain vigilant to ensure it continues! 💙
