Your NEA-KCK Member Organizers were out at Gloria Willis and J.C. Harmon today, welcoming our 2026–2027 new hires as they begin making KCKPS their new home! ☺️

Tomorrow, we’ll be back at it, continuing to welcome the newest members of our KCKPS family.

One of the things that makes NEA-KCK special is our New Teacher Store. New educators who join NEA-KCK have access to classroom supplies, furniture, books, décor, and more, all thanks to generous donations from current and retired KCKPS educators, along with contributions from NEA-KCK.

Starting a teaching career can be overwhelming and expensive. We believe our newest educators should feel supported from day one, and our New Teacher Store is just one of the many ways we invest in their success.

Welcome to KCKPS- we’re so glad you’re here! 🧡🍎

Educators know that informed decisions matter.

Before heading to the polls on Aug. 4, review every race and ballot measure – not just the highest-profile race. Every office and every issue, such as the Kansas Elections for Supreme Court Justices Amendment, can have a lasting impact on our schools, students, educators, families and communities.

Your NEA-KCK National Education Association Representative Assembly delegates represented our local well!

From Back Left: President Dom DeRosa, President Elect LeAnne Richardson, Jamila Walton, Kenya Harris, The Bear, Sara Esther
From Front Left: VP Classified Elect Averie Jackson, VP Kristin Shuck, VP Certified Elect Mia Ham

The work has been hard and rewarding.
The 8 delegates gathered with other delegates from all 50 states, plus the Federal (educators working in other countries, usually on military bases) to make decisions on behalf of the nearly 3 million members in the NEA. We considered 91 business items, ranging from creating teaching resources for indigenous history to not allowing private companies to provide school lunches. We discussed amendments to the legislative programs, which guide the discussions with elected officials. Resolutions, or belief statements, were considered as amended.
We also got to hear from the Teacher of the Year, ESP (Education Support Professional) of the Year, and the Higher Ed Teacher of the Year.

Thank you for your support in electing us to do this work.

Congratulations to newly elected Leaders of NEA.

Taxpayers are funding kids’ private education. Often, money goes to kids already in private or home schools.

Recent salary gains for some teachers in recent years are being consumed by growing inflation, pushing them to find second jobs.
