This past weekend, eight of the staff members at the Goddard School of Shawnee spent a day at the Futures First's Fall Symposium for Early Childhood Education. They spent the day learning current strategies and techniques that can be implemented in the classroom. We are so grateful to have staff that are dedicated to keeping up with the latest in early childhood education.

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
