Shawano Community Education Community Education offers enrichment learning opportunities such as art, fitness, history, aquatics

Services offered through the Community Education Office include:
Enrichment, Hobby, Wellness & Leisure Classes, Water Aerobics, Latin Splash, Swimming Lessons, Facility Scheduling, Senior Tax Exchange Program, Resource for Community Connections, Fitness Classes, Shawano Volunteers.

What a Wonderful Day Exploring Wisconsin's History and Fall Beauty!
A wonderful time was had by all on our recent Shawano Community Education Fall Historic Bus Tour! From fascinating history to breathtaking autumn scenery, the day was filled with learning, laughter, and great company!

Our adventure began at the Portage County Historical Society, where we explored eleven historic buildings, each offering its own stories and a glimpse into the past.

We then enjoyed lunch alongside students at UW–Stevens Point before making our way to Granite Peak and Rib Mountain, where we learned about the area's incredible billion-year-old geological history. The highlight of the day? A scenic chairlift ride to the top, where we were treated to spectacular fall colors and sweeping views of the valley below. What a sight!

Our travels continued with a visit to the beautiful Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and Sculpture Garden, followed by a stop at Caroline Colorama, where we caught a glimpse of the thousands of horses, riders, and vendors gathered for this beloved fall tradition.

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who joined us and especially to our very own local historian, Joel Kroenke! It's the wonderful people, shared experiences, and discoveries along the way that make these trips so special.

We are already looking forward to our spring historic tour and hope you'll join us for another adventure!

A Change of Plans… and 8 Seats Available for Germany!

Sometimes even the best-laid culinary plans need a little adjusting!

Our very own Chef Ben Iozzo has had to make a difficult scheduling change to his popular Destination Dinner Series. Destination Dinner: Germany has been rescheduled to Monday, November 9, replacing the previously planned Asian Fusions dinner.

We sincerely appreciate the understanding and flexibility of those who were able to move their reservations to the new date. Thank you!

The good news? We now have 8 seats available!

Life gets busy, and sometimes we all need a moment to slow down, breathe, and recharge.

Join us for Restorative Yin Yoga, a gentle, relaxing experience designed to release tension, improve flexibility, and help you feel refreshed in both mind and body.

Whether you're new to yoga or have practiced for years, everyone is welcome! No experience is necessary, and poses can be modified to meet your individual needs.

The Shawano Has History Project was recently recognized by the Wisconsin Historical Society—and now you can learn more about the stories behind this special local project!

Join us for Discovering Shawano’s History Through Plaques & Places, a two-part Community Education class featuring a presentation on Shawano’s history followed by a guided walking tour of historic downtown.

Android users—this class is for you!

Do you ever feel like your phone can do a whole lot more than you actually know how to use? Join us for Android Basics, a FREE three-session Community Education class designed to help you feel more comfortable and confident with your phone.

Instructor Hannah Jakubek from Options for Independent Living will take the mystery out of Android by focusing on useful skills, tools and settings that apply across most Android phones. And here’s the twist—you’ll actually set your phone aside during class so you can focus on learning the concepts without getting bogged down by the differences between devices!

You’ll leave with helpful handouts to take home and use with your own phone.
