It was a great opportunity to teach, practice, and reinforce the behaviors that help make a positive place to learn and grow!

The first school in Shasta was built in 1853, making it over 170 years old. Shasta Elementary is the oldest continuously operating public school in California.

Can you imagine the people who attended this little school over the past 170 years? The children of those who came for the gold rush. The children of those who helped build Redding. Children of the 1800s, 1900s, and 2000s.

Through all the change the world has seen in 170 years, this little school has continued to educate and support the children who walk through its doors.

We are looking forward to a wonderful 2026-2027 school year.

A big thank you to Robert and Mary for 10 years of service!

Mary is the office manager at our sister school, Igo. Our two schools work so closely together that she is every bit as much a part of the Shasta family as anyone. We are so thankful for the many ways she supports our schools, staff, students, and families.

Robert is our night custodian, working behind the scenes each evening to make sure our students and staff come back to clean, cared-for classrooms every morning. His dedication and hard work may happen after most of us have gone home, but the difference he makes is felt every single day.

Ten years of showing up, working hard, and caring for our school communities is something worth celebrating. We are incredibly grateful for Robert and Mary and their decade of service. Thank you both for all you do!
