Mindy Odell - Certified ISR Instructor Watching your child is not enough, nor are pool safety gates able to protect them from every hazardous water situation. The Sooner, The Safer!

Infant Swimming Resource goes beyond traditional swimming instruction, by teaching children aged 6 months to 6 years old ISR Self-Rescue™ techniques designed to help them survive should they reach the water alone. Arm your child with an extra layer of protection in the unfortunate event that supervision lapses -- even momentarily -- and he or she ends up in the water alone. ISR’s Self-Rescue™ prog

ram is an added layer that teaches your child water survival skills in a safe environment. Many parents don’t realize the dangers of introducing young children to water before they have the skills to survive. Before your baby should feel confident to safely enjoy the water, he or she must first learn the skills needed for survival. ISR is the safest provider of infant and toddler swimming lessons worldwide. With more than 45 years of research and development behind ISR's Self-Rescue™ program, ISR teaches each child survival skills in conjunction with
basic swimming lessons that give them the competence required to safely enjoy the water. Empower your child by enrolling him or her in ISR’s Self-Rescue™ program.

The ISR Journey🩵

Did she cry in lessons? Yep!
Was she traumatized? Nope!
Is she safe? Yep!
Does she love the water? Yep!

Just because a baby is crying, does not mean that they are being traumatized.

Emotions while learning something new, in a new environment, with a new person, when she perhaps doesn’t want to learn that new thing right now in this wet and unsatisfactory temperature, when she is hungry, or would prefer to have a snuggle by Mom, or a multitude of other reasons why she may be upset in the moment, will evoke some tears, but it does not mean any long lasting trauma is being produced.

As parents and as her instructor, our job is to make sure she understands that she is doing a great job and we are proud of her hard work despite the less than favorable conditions she faces.

At a very young age, she learned that…
- she can do hard things💪
- she can still focus and not let her emotions shut her down😎
- she is learned how good it feels to overcome something and be proud of herself🙌
- And she has learned how to safely enjoy the water!💦

The peace of mind is worth it!

The peace of mind is worth it!

“I can’t believe you’d put your kids in ISR, it’s so traumatic!!”

No… you know what’s traumatic? Losing your child.

ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) teaches babies as young as 6 months how to survive in the water if the unthinkable happens. Not just “swim” but survive.

The focus isn’t on swimming laps. It’s on floating. Because swimming is exhausting for little bodies. They learn to swim just enough to turn themselves onto their back, float, breathe, and rest. Then repeat. That’s what saves lives.

Lessons are only 10 minutes a day.

Is it hard at first? Yes, mostly for the parents. Watching your child learn something new is uncomfortable sometimes. But within days, something clicks. They gain confidence. They understand what to do.

And by the end?
They can fall into the water fully clothed, shoes and all, and know how to save themselves.

That is worth the price and commitment to me.

Floating is cool 😎💦

Floating = breathing
Breathing = safety
And in the water, safety is everything.

The sooner, the safer!

Give your baby a strong foundation of how to engage and interact with the water before they are walking and can reach the water alone!

Infant lessons set your child up for success in the water earlier than their peers! They learn to swim earlier and so much amazing brain development happens in swim lessons!

Sign your baby up today and give them the head start to safety and fun in the water! 👉Link in bio!

Sorry to burst your bubble…

Floaties don’t teach your child how to swim! They actually put kids in a vertical position which is also known as the drowning posture😱

Don’t rely on floaties to keep your kids safe! We can’t bubble wrap our kids! We need to teach them how to survive and thrive in the water!💦

Big thanks to The UPS Store on Hilltop Dr. for donating the bubble wrap for our water safety booth at Week of the Young Child 2026!

Come see me! I will have a Water Safety booth at the mall tomorrow 3-5pm!

Raising Shasta is excited to host Welcome to the Jungle, a family-friendly event as part of Week of the Young Child for families with littles ages 0–5, though all are welcome. 🦁🌿

📍 Mount Shasta Mall (Courtyard near JCPenney)
🗓 Tuesday, April 14
⏰ 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Welcome to the Jungle is a resource fair featuring local services, storytime with our Executive Director, free family photos, visits with alpacas, and early literacy books for the first 100 families. Held during Child Abuse Prevention Month, it also helps raise awareness about the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the importance of building safe, supportive communities for children and families.

We hope to see you there!

Sponsored by First 5 Shasta. 💚

“Will ISR teach my child to swim?”

Yes 💦

Swimming is the ability to move through the water toward a destination—and that skill develops over a wide window (often 12 months–4 years), as coordination and strength grow.

That’s why we teach the swim–float–swim sequence:
1. Make an attempt to move toward safety
2. Roll to float, breathe and rest
3. Then continue to swim toward safety.

🗝️Knowing they can always roll to their back, rest and breathe in their float is the key to a confident and safe swimmer!

Let’s get your little one swimming by Summer☀️
