TCES NEWS
Principally Speaking
As we approach the end of the 2017-18 school year, I would like to acknowledge the wonderful family members that will be leaving us at the end of the school year. Your dedication and commitment to the students here at Thomas Crossroads will forever be remembered. On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to say Thank You for a Job Well Done! They will always be a part of Thomas Crossroads and we look forward to them visiting and volunteering. We wish them happiness and joy during their time of retirement and much success in new positions.
On a different note, we have shared information about Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) at TCE. This is the completion of our second year. The celebration we have had during the year proved to be more joyous for me than the students. I have had a lot of students to save their “Gotcha” to watch a movie and eat pizza with me. This is a humbling experience to see that they want to spend their reward with me. We are adding more areas of focus as the team meet and analyze data to see how to best support our students. At the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, we will provide more information and training for students and parents.
This year, we will not collect Chromebooks unless the parents opt to turn them in. Parents will receive a letter on yellow paper opting to turn in their child’s Chromebook and charger. The Chromebook, charger and signed parent form must be turned in by May 24, 2018. All other students will be allowed to keep their assigned Chromebook throughout the summer and can anticipate using it the first day of school August 3, 2018.
If your child keeps their Chromebook, they will still have accessibility to Moby Max and Reading A-Z. These resources allow unlimited practice opportunities. Please remind your child(ren), that “A Little Progress Each Day, Adds Up to Big Results”. Your child’s current login information can be used until late July. If you are unable to log in, please call the school.
Parents, I also need your assistance in making sure your child’s lunch account has a zero balance. May 11, 2018, will be the last day students can charge. If your child has a balance, please contact Mrs. Tassell Cleveland at 770.254.2753.
Thank you, parents and students, for your part in helping TCE be the best we can be. As you prepare for the summer, please take a little time out to reflect and be thankful for the positive things that are going on in your life. If things are going rough for you, know that a beautiful rainbow will show up in your life after the roughest and toughest storm. Read, relax and think positively over the summer and be SAFE. I will see you in the fall.

Principal
