We checked out some great life-size Great Horned Owl wings (made by the Chestnuts at the ) and compared our own wingspan to that of an owl. It is amazing to see how large the wings are in comparison to the size of an owls body!

Our very own Keeli, a Chestnut teacher at the is a 2024 Finalist for the Iditarod’s Teacher on the Trail…and she needs our help!

Each year, one teacher is selected (out of hundreds of applicants) to serve as the Iditarod Dog Sled Race’s official educational liaison by dispatching information, resources, and lesson plans to thousands of classrooms following the race remotely.

Keeli is one of three final applicants and must travel to Alaska next month for 10 days for the final round. We are hoping to rally our amazing Cooperative community and raise $2,500 to support the cost of her air travel, food, and lodging for her upcoming trip. We have started a fundraising page and we hope you will consider making a contribution by clicking the link below.

We know there is no one more capable and deserving than Keeli, and making it this far is an incredible honor for her and own community. We can’t wait to follow her every step of the way!

For years Keeli has brought her dedication, passion and talent to our youngest learners, and now is our chance to pay it back by sending her on the adventure of a lifetime. GO KEELI!!
