MEET THE MONSTER: Trixee

Seven eyes. Two wings. One very serious fishing habit.

Melissa imagined an ocean-dwelling monster who loves warm weather and a game of “catch the fish.” A successful catch makes Trixee happy. An empty beak? That’s another story.

Artist Tara Tucker, a Penn Ohio Clay Guild member, brought Melissa’s drawing to life with colorful feathers, watchful eyes and plenty of personality.

Today, HopeCAT recognizes Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

We honor the histories, cultures, creativity and contributions of Indigenous peoples and communities, past and present.

An investment in career training is an investment in the people who live and work here.

HopeCAT has received $200,000 in state funding to maintain and expand workforce development programs, helping students prepare for in-demand careers close to home.

We’re grateful for this support through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and for Sen. Michele Brooks’ support of local workforce training.

HopeCAT will be closed on Monday, October 12, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

We will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, October 13.

MEET THE MONSTER: Elaina

When Layla imagined Elaina as a second grader, she gave her a home in the trees, a love of cookies and milk, and a preference for being around kind people.

But don’t let her sweet nature fool you. Elaina also has a secret power: force fields.

Artist Elise Cretella, a member of the Penn Ohio Clay Guild, brought Layla’s idea to life in clay, complete with a ring of treats overhead.

Elaina is now available through the Monster Mash online auction. Bid for the chance to take home this one-of-a-kind piece and the student drawing that inspired it.

Proceeds benefit HopeCAT’s Youth Arts programming.

Some monsters are better together.

Meet Wyatt and Ella, a rainbow-colored duo dreamed up by Addison. They love hot dogs, ice cream, bouncy houses and playing with their friends. Rainy days and sticky slime? Absolutely not.

Artists Karen Baum and Liz Baum of the Penn Ohio Clay Guild brought Addison’s drawing to life in clay, right down to the colorful details and sweet messages they share.

Wyatt and Ella will be available in the Monster Mash online auction. Bid for the chance to bring home their story while supporting HopeCAT.
