You're invited to a community open house on Monday, Sept. 21 to celebrate the Bookmobile's first six months on the road!

During the open house, you can walk through the Bookmobile, get or renew your library card, browse and check out items, place items on hold from other branches to be picked up at a future Bookmobile stop, return library items, and more.

📆 When: Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 6 PM (come and go anytime)

Happy Smart Start Month! We are excited to bring you an exciting day of block building as we bring back our BLOCKFest! We are excited to present 2 sessions on September 30th at 9:30 and 5:30. This event is FREE but pre-registration is requested for food preparation! Come learn how every day play and can lead to more learning than you can imagine as you rotate through different styles of blocks! We will have light breakfast foods available at the 9:30 session and pizza provided by a generous donation by Mr. and Mrs. Dashow! Space is limited so be sure to claim your FREE spot soon!

Smart Start Month is almost here! Smart Start of Brunswick County will celebrate the Smart Start Network and will host another awesome BLOCKFest for all of the families of young children in Brunswick County. Stay tuned for more details!

Through the partnership with Smart Start, the NC Legislature, and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, 3,300 children in Brunswick County are currently receiving free books each month.

The outpouring of love for Dolly and the inquiries of how to support the program have been flowing in! Dolly truly was loved!! If you would like to contribute to this wonderful program that helps children build early literacy skills and a lifelong love of reading, click here.

The Smart Start Network is deeply saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton. Her belief that every child deserves access to books and the opportunity to develop a love of reading transformed the lives of countless children and families.

Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, the Smart Start Network is honored to help bring free books and the joy of reading to children across North Carolina—helping families build connections, spark curiosity, and nurture a lifelong love of learning.

We will continue carrying forward her vision and remain committed to helping children build strong foundations for lifelong success. Her legacy will live on every time a child opens a book and discovers the joy of reading.

For decades, Dolly Parton has helped put books into the hands of millions of young children through her Imagination Library, beginning at birth.

And those books represent so much more than learning to read.

The first day of Pre-K is more than just a milestone. It's the start of routines, friendships, confidence, problem solving and curiosity! These all help children in their preparation for Kindergarten and beyond.
