🎄 Save the date: Friday, December 4 at 6:00 PM 🎄

The 31st Annual Calabash Christmas Tree Lighting & Parade is set! A small-town parade runs down Beach Drive to River Road, then the tree lights up at Callahan’s of Calabash. Roads along the route close at 5:45 PM.

Youth and adult dancers will be in the parade and on stage after the tree lighting, joined by a singer for a holiday performance. Stick around for caroling, hot cocoa, and a visit with Santa. Kids can drop a letter in the North Pole Mailbox and mix up a bag of magic reindeer food to sprinkle on the lawn Christmas Eve so Rudolph finds the right house. 🦌✨

🎁 The giving drive is on, too! The Calabash Christmas Giving Foundation is collecting clothing and unwrapped gifts for children in southern Brunswick County schools, grocery gift cards for local seniors, and nonperishable food for the Lord’s Pantry.

We wanted to give a quick update and say thank you to the Shallotte Police Department and Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office for their quick response today. 💙

This morning, we heard something nearby that sounded like gunshots. As a precaution, we brought everyone inside and canceled outside play for the morning.

Officers came out to check the area, and they made sure everything was safe. They also let us know that it is turkey hunting season, which may have been what we heard.

Everything was fine here at the center, and all of our staff and students are safe. We’re very thankful they came to check everything out, and we wanted to keep our families informed in case you noticed the police presence in our parking lot earlier today.

🌟 Staff Spotlight 🌟

Our next Staff Spotlight is on Ms. Gracie!

Ms. Gracie has been part of The Kids Connection family since 2023. During that time, she’s gotten to know the children in just about every classroom! She is currently a teacher in our one-year-old room, where her favorite part of the day is getting to love on all the little ones. You can also find her spending time with our school-age crew after school!

When she’s not in the classroom, Gracie enjoys spending time with her family and shopping.

🌟 Staff Spotlight 🌟

Our next Staff Spotlight is on Mrs. Katana!

Mrs. Katana has been a part of The Kids Connection family since 2021 and has been an assistant teacher on our NC Pre-K team since 2023.

Mrs. Katana earned her associate’s degree in Arts from Brunswick Community College and completed her second associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Stanly Community College last year.

When Mrs. Katana is not in the classroom, she loves spending time with her husband and pets, as well as bowling!
