Carver County Fair Pork Burger Stand Fundraiser , August 5-11

Carver County Fair Pork Burger Stand sign-up. The Signup Genius link went live today. FFA members, a family member, or a friend who will be joining us at SWM this fall and wants to be a member, are encouraged to sign up. This is our largest FUNDRAISER for the year. This allows SWM FFA to provide free FFA membership, access to all chapter and regional FFA events free of charge, and a heavily reduced fee for state and national events. If you are a recently graduated senior, please consider working even just one shift to pay back all of the activities that you participated in. If you know other FFA alumni or supporters who could work a shift, please forward this to them. There are a limited number of shifts, so sign up early. I will be working at least 1 shift each day. The plan is that I will also be working a shift in a booth for SWM CTE programs each day as well. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E48A5A72FA2FDC07-57363561-2025

The patio at Dean Lakes Education Center is now home to a garden of herbs and vegetables thanks to a vibrant partnership between programs!

Ag students from the plant science program prepared the soil and then planted herbs and vegetables with help from some of the students in the SWMetro Transitions Program. They will monitor the plants until they are ready to be harvested when they will be used by the Culinary Program.

The students planted tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, summer squash, 16 different types of herbs, four fruit trees, and 16 blueberry bushes to add to a fruit orchard onsite that currently has 18 trees. Ag students carefully calculated plant production times to align with fall curriculum needs for the culinary program to be able to utilize the produce during the correct units in the 2025-26 school year as they grow their skills and learn new techniques.
