We are thrilled to share that Laurel School is officially participating in the 2026-27 Playhouse Square Dazzle Awards! Joining a record-setting 48 high schools across Northeast Ohio, our talented students will have the opportunity to engage in workshops, masterclasses, and hands-on learning with industry professionals throughout the year as they hone their craft both onstage and behind the scenes.

Learning came full circle on Wednesday as our 5th graders explored Cleveland's food systems with help from across our community!

Prepped by Mack Gilbert ’27 on environmental justice, students put their stewardship skills to work at Food Strong CLE before heading to the West Side Market. Hosted by Executive Director Rosemary Mudry ’02, they toured the historic space and interviewed longtime vendors during a "Market Math" budgeting simulation.

Middle Schoolers take Butler! 🥾

This week, our eighth graders participated in Nation Creation, a three-day immersive experience at our Butler Campus. Groups established their territories by building physical structures in the woods using primarily natural resources. Beyond creating the borders of their nation, they practiced strong communication skills by recognizing commonalities, composing their own national anthem, completing challenge scrolls, and more.

No trip to Butler is complete without a stop at Gator Garage to practice using power tools! Students worked on constructing outdoor benches, which will be used as a space to facilitate conversation during their Harkness discussions later this year.

Stay tuned for updates in the spring when they return for science-based Nation Creation 2.0!
