Congratulations to Noa Karr β28! π
Noa earned second place in the National Scholastic Chess Championship at the 126th U.S. Open Chess Championship in Lansing, Michigan!
While at the tournament, she also had the opportunity to meet Jennifer Shahade, a FIDE Woman Grandmaster: one of the most prestigious titles in chess. Her passion for the game extends far beyond the competition board. For her Laurel Capstone project, Noa is exploring ways to encourage more girls and women to participate in chess, helping make the game more inclusive for future generations.
Weβre so proud of Noa and this outstanding achievement! βοΈ

π± Big impact starts with small actions.
As of the end of June, Laurel School has rescued 4.03 tons of organic material from the landfill, giving it new life as beautiful, nutrient-rich compost! β»οΈπΏ
From lunch scraps to lasting change, our community is helping reduce waste, enrich the soil, and make a positive impact on the environment, one compost bin at a time.
Here's to growing a greener future together! π
