Shaker Heights Schools’ cell phone procedures are designed to enhance student well-being, safety and academic engagement! These procedures require elementary students (Preschool-Grade 5) to keep cell phones and personal devices powered off and stored in their backpacks during the school day 🎒
Students in Grades 6-8 use Yondr pouches to store powered-off devices, which will remain locked until the end of the school day. Shaker Heights High School is transitioning from Yondr pouches to Doorman, a phone-based application that promotes wellness through digital focus 📚 When activated by a student after they “Tap In” to class, Doorman allows students to use their phone to access teacher-approved applications for class use, and freely communicate with others in case of an emergency.
We are excited to start the school year with a focus on student well-being, safety and academic engagement!
