Last week, our 5th graders proudly showcased their Exhibition — a culminating experience of the Primary Years Programme and an essential part of the International Baccalaureate journey. 💫
Throughout this process, students constructed their own units of inquiry, exploring topics they were passionate about through research, collaboration, and action. From water pollution, healthy friendships, and therapy dogs to how sports have changed over time, students tackled meaningful topics that reflected their interests and curiosity about the world around them. With true voice, choice, and ownership over their projects, they demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, and a deep commitment to making a difference. For months, from start to finish, our students took the lead in their learning, and the results were inspiring.
We are so grateful to our families, staff, and community members who came to celebrate this special milestone with us!
A very special shout out goes to our incredible IB Coordinator, Ms. Royal, whose countless hours, dedication, and passion helped make this such a meaningful and memorable experience for our 5th graders. Her leadership and support guided students every step of the way, and we are so thankful for all she poured into this exhibition journey! ❤️

Yesterday, our classrooms were filled with stories, smiles, and proud moments during our 1st Grade Writer’s Showcase! 📚✨
Students proudly shared the books they have worked so hard to write, illustrating their creativity, imagination, and growth as writers throughout the year. Families and loved ones had the special opportunity to listen as students read their stories aloud, making for such a meaningful and memorable afternoon.
The smiles, excitement, and confidence shining through each presentation made this event one to remember. What a special way to celebrate a year of learning and storytelling! ❤️

Today, our 4th graders brought mythology and math to life during their Mythological Geometry Creature Museum! 🐉📐✨
As part of their Wit & Wisdom Module 4 study of mythology, students combined their learning with our IB Unit of Inquiry, How We Express Ourselves, and their 4th grade geometry standards to design original mythological creatures using only polygons.
Each student carefully created a unique creature, explored geometric concepts through their designs, and wrote imaginative stories to explain their creature’s origins, powers, and adventures. From fierce polygon dragons to mysterious geometric sea creatures, the creativity and problem-solving on display were incredible!
We are so proud of the hard work, innovation, and storytelling our 4th graders shared today. What an amazing example of learning through creativity and expression!

Our 4th Grade Newspaper Club has been hard at work sharpening their journalism skills through some incredible real-world interviews! 📰🎤
First up, students sat down with Mrs. McCormick from the Shaker Schools Foundation and Mr. Grosse, Shaker’s Assistant Superintendent, to discuss the logistics and important considerations behind playground equipment improvements — including the exciting possibility of bringing adaptive swings to Fernway’s playground so all students can play and belong. 💙
Next, students interviewed Mrs. Reddy, parent of one of our 5th graders and employee of the CDC, to learn more about school lunch reform and the importance of healthy choices for kids. 🍎
To wrap up their interview series, our young reporters met with Fernway’s incoming principal, Ms. Grier, to talk all about the 2026-27 school year and what she is most excited for as she joins the Fernway family! ✨
We are so proud of our students for asking thoughtful questions, engaging in meaningful conversations, and growing as curious communicators and future leaders!

Lights, microphones, action!🎤
Our 2nd graders stepped into the studio to become podcast creators! Working alongside Phillip Cummings from the Ohio Broadcast School, students learned what it takes to plan, record, and produce their very own podcast episodes.
From practicing clear speaking voices to sharing their ideas with confidence, our students had an amazing hands-on experience exploring the world of broadcasting. We are so proud of their creativity, collaboration, and courage behind the microphone!
A big thank you to Phillip Cummings for bringing this exciting opportunity to our students and helping their voices shine!

Our Kindergarteners have been hard at work exploring the world of coding with Ms. Royal!🌍
Using coding robots, our young learners are programming their bots to travel across the globe—visiting landmarks on all 7 continents! From problem-solving to teamwork, they’re building important skills while having a blast.
It’s incredible to watch their confidence grow as they think like programmers and explore the world in such a hands-on way. Keep up the amazing work, Kindergarten! 💫

Today we had an unforgettable experience at our Adapted Sports Assembly—and let’s just say, our staff stole the show! 🏀👏
This incredible traveling program gave our teachers the chance to step into the world of wheelchair sports, while our students filled the gym with cheers, encouragement, and tons of excitement. The energy was amazing as students watched their teachers take on a whole new challenge!
Beyond the fun, it was a powerful opportunity for our school community to build awareness, empathy, and appreciation for adaptive athletics. We loved seeing our students so engaged and supportive on the sidelines!
A special thank you to Mr. Morris for the time, effort, and care he put into coordinating this event for our entire school—we are so grateful! 💙
Be sure to ask your child about their favorite moment—there were plenty of smiles, laughs, and maybe even a few surprise MVPs!
