Educational Aide / Special Education Paraprofessional — Job Description Summary
The Educational Aide provides individualized support to a student with individualized needs and may include students with specific learning disabilities thru autism and may serve across two school buildings. Working under the direction of teachers and appropriate school staff, the aide helps the student participate in instruction, follow daily routines, communicate needs, build independence, and use supports identified in the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
The aide also supports the student during transportation and transitions between buildings and or classrooms, including boarding and exiting a vehicle and moving safely to the assigned classroom or activity. The aide communicates relevant observations to school staff, maintains student confidentiality, and follows district procedures for supervision, safety, and emergencies. Duties may vary according to the student’s needs and IEP.
