Today in chapel, we recognized William “Bill” Wolfram, professor emeritus of art at Concordia University, Nebraska. A frequent chapel attendee, Wolfram now has a seat dedicated in his name in Weller Chapel.

With more than 45 years of service within Concordia's department of art, Wolfram strived to instill the highest level of craftsmanship, no matter what the medium and works to encourage and sustain the faith of those around him. His students over the decades are witnesses to his legacy of service.

Rev. Russ Sommerfeld most recently served Concordia University, Nebraska as interim director of the Institute for Rural and Small Town Ministries. He was the Nebraska District Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod president from 2003 to 2015. Concordia Nebraska recently presented him with the university’s Honorary Bulldog Award.

Gary Norton ’63 has fond memories of his time at then-named Concordia Teacher’s College (CTC). Very involved on campus, he ran track, was a member of the A Ca****la University Choir, started the cross country team and wrestling team, served as president of the Youth Leadership Training group, was a yell leader and was involved with student government.
