Another Cooking adventure job just plopped on my desk.. Sous chef position at a exclusive fly-in fishing/bear watching lodge. I came from Boston 30+ years ago (just for the summer) to work at a place similar to this!!! and I'm still here!!!
owner mentioned (including tips) you could make 17K for a few months work . Great fun opportunity. and it's remote.. a soothing thought in our Covid-awareness world right now.

After ALL the students left early for Thanksgiving break, Treee (yes, that's how she spells her name) asked if she could stay & "play" in the kitchen. She made us Chef F. & I Lunch, and then we made candies. It was great seeing a student work independently & confidently. what a fun day!

Food Service Sub Journey On-call Substitute

This position is in the Labor, Trades, and Crafts unit (LTC) at range 61: $14.13 per hour + $2.10 per hour non-perm pay



What you will be doing:

AVTEC is currently recruiting for an on-call substitute Food Service Sub Journey who will substitute for absent employees as needed to provide cleaning services in support of the student meal services and culinary instructional program to include dish washing, routine kitchen equipment cleaning, mopping kitchen floors, routine cleaning of cafeteria, dining rooms, and other common areas associated with student and culinary program food production. This position will also perform simple food preparation prior to cooking or serving raw and assist journey level staff with simple cooking. Cooking experience preferred but not required.

The working conditions you can expect:

This is a nonpermanent on-call substitute position in AVTEC’s cafeteria in Seward, Alaska. It is part of a seven person team delivering meal services to students. The cafeteria team consists of a Food Service Foreman, a Food Service Lead, two Food Service Journeys, and three Food Service Sub-Journeys.

it looks like Settler’s Bay Lodge will be pushing some record numbers this year.
