1776 was a revolution against an empire that claimed a right to hold colonies against their will. 1861 was labeled a “rebellion” by a government that claimed a right to hold States against their will. If the right to withdraw consent is the cornerstone of the American experiment, at what point does it become a crime to exercise it? I’m revisiting the foundational arguments of the American compact.

If you believe in the principles of 1776, you must grapple with the constitutional reality of 1861. I’m interested in your perspective: Was the right of the States to withdraw consent a settled matter in 1787, or did the Federal Government rightfully expand its authority beyond the original compact? Let’s discuss in the comments.

Is my church a place where my fellow members openly speak about the latest rhema/Spoken Word of God they have received from God during their quiet times with Him?
OR is my church a place where the fact that we can clearly recognize God's Voice when He speaks to us never mentioned from the front on Sundays nor mentioned in any smaill groups or other times of fellowship among the members?
It seems to me that only the 1st type of fellowship has any chance of ever pleasing God, since without faith it is impossible to please God and faith comes from clearly recognizing God's Voice when He speaks to us.
If direct guidance from God is not part of decision-making individually and corporately in a local church body, aren't they just winging it? Seems to me that this process produces a disconnected (from God) biosphere of goodwill and programs.
That reality is a far cry from the Bride of Christ I see discussed in the written Word of God/logos.
