A couple of people have asked how much they should contribute for the bell. It's really whatever you feel you can contribute. Don't forget we'll be asking you for money for the scholarship fund, too, and the school wants anyone who's already giving to the annual fund not to stop doing that. So give what you can, but pace yourselves. It's going to be a marathon, not a sprint.

Hey kids! I've been doing some research on bells, talked to a guy in Michigan who sells second hand bells, mostly. He had some good ideas about what kind of bell would give us a strong sound in open air. Check out the website: brosamersbells.com, go to the "railroad bells" link and look for 294rr. Price listed is $2400, but he'd be willing to sell for $1900. I think the other one he mentioned was 567 which costs $3200. We would have to get the bell mounted, he recommended attaching it to something that could be rolled on and off the field since apparently people like to steal bells (who knew?). Getting it mounted and either engraved or having a plaque made would cost extra, but these are pretty hefty bells, so I think the price is pretty good. Tell me what you think. I'm trying to get back on this now that the holidays are done so we can get things arranged for June (which is only 5 months away......) Lindy
