You don’t have to attend Shakerag Workshops to shop Shakerag Workshops. The Shakerag store is in the Simmonds Building. While you’re there, be sure to check out the show in the SAS Gallery, too!
The deadline to apply for Summer Study opportunities is TODAY!!
Tennessee Craft creates environments for life-changing connections to spark and grow, fostering supportive artist-to-artist relationships, building maker communities across the state, and preserving traditional craft methods by educating both our membership and the public on the people, processes and rich traditions of craft in Tennessee. We offer several fully paid summer workshop opportunities each year to help artists thrive. This year, we are pleased to offer seven (7) scholarships in total from our three craft school partners. This is a members-only opportunity.
Workshops available for funding may be taken at the Appalachian Center for Craft, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts or Shakerag Workshops from May 1 to July 31 – including tuition, materials, room and board. Scholarships are intended to provide educational advancement to craft artists wishing to improve their knowledge and skills in a craft medium of their choice.
Submissions are NOW OPEN! All applications must be submitted electronically no later than 11:59 p.m. CDT on March 15, 2022.

Thanks to Barking Birds Antiques for this shot of Botanical Colors' President Kathy Hattori :)
While Kathy was just down in Tennessee at Shakerag Workshops, she showed students how to make green without indigo. Have you ever tried mixing logwood and weld to make various hues of green?
Recipe here on the logwood page (logwood on sale for the rest of this week!)

I know that my Shakerag family is important, but I have to say, I was beaming after last night's workshop. I didn't know how much I needed to be escorted back to our immeasurably kind, generous, and inquisitive creative community...even if only virtually! All this, coming from someone who teaches Studio Art 60+hrs a week. The Shakerag group is something else, something I absolutely cherish! Thank you!
