💫We are thrilled to welcome Andrea Kopf to be our Director of Auxiliary Programs this year at St. Martin's. She'll run Mustang Club and all the fun after-school clubs and activities for students in Preschool through 8th Grade. 🕵🏻She loved reading Nancy Drew books in Middle School, and we asked a few questions to get to know more about her:

🎓What did you do this summer? Summer started a bit early as we went to VT to celebrate my oldest son's graduation and then took a trip to Orlando to do a marathon Universal Studios and Disney experience... seven amusement parks in six days! We also went on several small getaways: Penn State Arts Festival, camping with friends, Hershey Park, and we will wrap up the summer moving my younger son into his apartment at WVU!

⛑Who is a teacher that was inspiring to you as a student? Monsignor Gribbin - He was my 4th grade religious teacher. He taught a lesson about lying and how telling lies are only hurtful to you. He demonstrated that by a brick that was a lie and then that lie kept on getting built up by other bricks (lies) to cover the first lie and others. The bricks stacked next to and on top of each other until there was a brick wall that finally came crashing down on you. I learned to always tell the truth. Lies only hurt.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧What lesson do you most look forward to this year? I'm really looking forward to learning my new job, getting to know the staff, students, and families. I'm excited for all the fun activities the students will have for after-care.

🇬🇧What is one fun fact about you? I did my student teaching in England at the University of Chichester, Bognor Regis and student taught at Primrose Primary School. Eight years later, I moved back to England and lived in Harrogate, North Yorkshire for five years.

We can't wait to spend days after school with Mrs. Kopf and all the wonderful Mustang Club staff! School starts September 2nd!

✨We are excited to welcome Laura Sweat to teach 5th Grade at St. Martin's this year! Did you know that she lived on an Alaskan island for three years where the bears outnumbered the people? 🐻 In an effort to get to know her a little better before the school year begins, we asked her some questions:

😎What have you been up to this summer? A trip to Michigan and pool days galore!

👨🏼‍🏫Who is a teacher that inspired you as a student? My 4th grade teacher gave us the gift of warmth and acceptance in his classroom. He got to know each of us on a meaningful level which allowed him to inspire and motivate us in ways that were personal. I still remember the respect he gave each of us as we gathered on the carpet for read aloud time and asked us what we really thought of the books we were reading. He treated us like scholars and we rose to meet his expectations in return.

📚What is the best piece of advice you've been given? “Someday, you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.” - C.S. Lewis
