Hello, we recently moved from Idaho to Senoia, Georgia, and thought it could be a fun idea to recreate an event that our family enjoyed attending each December when we were in Idaho.

We are a homeschool family of 7 and we thought we’d reach out to other homeschool families first to see if any would be interested in helping us create a Living Nativity for our area here in Senoia. We hope to have this event ready to go live for next Christmas on our property near historic town, 2024!

I love this country 🇺🇸 I am proud to be an American and will never take for granted the freedoms that I am blessed with because of those that fought for it before me.

As we were reading the lyrics of America the Beautiful I contemplated how it seemed to describe right where we live.

“O Beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain.
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!”

I love the wide open sky here, I love watching the wheat blow in the wind, I love how each night when the sun sets the mountains turn a dusty purple, and I love seeing the fruits of the farmers labor growing all around me. 🌾 I love that my kids get to grow up here, even if they don’t always appreciate it… one day they will 😂

It was a beautiful, fun last day of Little School on the Prairie! We cooked hot dogs over the fire, drank root beer floats, had an amazing experience with a bee swarm and played outside.

The kids rocked this year! They learned, and grew and showed amazing progress. The other teachers and I were blessed to watch and experience it with them ♥️ I couldn’t have done this without them!

Along with language arts and math we finished history year 2, botany, geology and most of energy with arctic studies mixed in over winter.

We celebrated Beatrix Potter, had tea parties, read poetry, learned about St. Lucia, St. Patrick and took time to immerse ourselves in colonial times. They read lots of books, talked way too much at times 😂 and formed friendships that I hope last a lifetime. It was a year for the books!! @ Buhl, Idaho

So exciting to find this swarm of honey bees today!! My husband and I have been wanting to get into bee keeping eventually and nature gave us this wonderful gift today so we get to learn about it sooner rather than later. 🐝 🍯 @ Buhl, Idaho

She said... “I like pulling weeds, it’s so satisfying!” I like her dirty feet and the sun on her skin. 🌱 ☀️

Homeschool days are winding down... we officially finish May 27, although as homeschoolers I believe we never finish. Learning is a year-around process and we are moving into the season where we will focus more on this, with math sprinkled in still.

☘️Growing up we never really celebrated St. Patrick’s Day all that much other than throwing on some green and maybe pinching some people for fun.

☘️As I’ve gotten older I’ve really had a desire to teach my kids and understand the cultural and historical significance behind various holidays. As a homeschooler it gives us a great chance to delve into history!

☘️St Patrick is an incredible person from history and we love to repeat the year one history lesson on him from each year. Our younger students read this wonderful book on him.

☘️ We also listened to an Irish leprechaun story from , the younger students made leprechaun traps, we had a Irish themed scavenger hunt, learned some Riverdance steps and practiced some Gaelic words.

☘️We finished off the day with some yummy soda bread and green chocolate chip mint shamrock shakes. I colored them with some wonderful spinach that no one noticed at all 😂 Veggie sneak for the win!
