Mrs. Helen Marlene Bottoms Field, 69, passed away December 16, 2019.
Born in Oconee County, Marlene was the daughter of the late James M. Bottoms and Katherine Chambers Bottoms of the Fairview Community. She attended Keowee High School, and upon its closing graduated from Seneca High School. She was devoted to her Christian faith, conservative thought, traditional values and dignity of family. She will be remembered for her humility, kindness, loving nature and gentle touch.
Marlene worked as a hairdresser and cosmetic consultant in Seneca for many years. She assisted young ladies in preparation for local beauty pageants and proms, and served as a judge for local pageants. She grew up in and was a member of the Fairview Southern Methodist Church, and recognized it as the foundation of her traditional values and love of community.
She was a devoted wife, proud mother and doting grandmother. She enjoyed reading and cooking.
She was predeceased by her parents and granddaughter, Jordan Nichols, and is survived by her husband, Henry J. Field, Jr. "Hank", sisters Elaine Steele (Bill) and Priscilla Mays Da Costa; daughters Kassie Horton Nichols (Billy) and Samantha Arledge Hendricks (Jeff); step-sons David C. Field (Lisa) and Henry J. Field, III "Jacob" and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Friday, December 20, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 21, 2019, at the Craig Memorial Cemetery, Old Pickens Church Road, Oconee County, SC.
