🪶 HISTORY COMES ALIVE AT OCONEE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY! 🪶

What a special opportunity for our students to experience a piece of South Carolina’s living history!

Welcome Mrs. Nancy Brown!

Today, we welcomed a guest from the Catawba Indian Nation, who shared personal stories, family traditions, and beautiful examples of Native American craftsmanship.

🏺 Did you know? Catawba pottery has been made for generations using clay gathered from riverbanks!

Our guest explained how the clay was carefully prepared, shaped by hand, and fired using traditional methods. Each finished piece was unique, with its colors and appearance influenced by the wood, ash, and firing process.

Even more meaningful were the personal stories of family members creating pottery, beadwork, and other handmade items to share and sell to visitors.

📖 Our students also had the opportunity to see traditional crafts and learn about the people, families, and customs that have helped preserve Catawba heritage.

What made this visit so special wasn’t simply learning about history. It was hearing history from someone whose family has lived it and passed these traditions from one generation to the next.

💜 We are grateful for the opportunity to connect our students with the rich cultural heritage of South Carolina and the people who continue to preserve it.

🎨🎶 Serving Our Neighbors & Sharing His Love! ✝️

What a special day for Oconee Christian Academy! Our students visited our neighbors at Belvedere Commons, located right beside our school, for an afternoon of fellowship and fun.

🎨 Arts & crafts
🎶 Songs and music
😊 Smiles and new friendships
✝️ And most importantly, sharing the love of Jesus!

Jesus loves everyone—young and old—and today was a beautiful reminder that we are here for a short time, with so many opportunities to love others, serve our community, and make a difference.

We are grateful for the doors God continues to open for OCA and for the many ways He provides opportunities for our students to put their faith into action. 🙏

✨ Sometimes one of the greatest opportunities to make a difference is right next door!
