Science goggles on. Bunny chores handled. Books read. And apparently the edge of the playground makes a perfectly good tightrope. 😊

There was plenty of learning happening yesterday—but also plenty of curiosity, sunshine, laughter, and just being kids.

Not a bad way to head into the last day of our first week. ❤️

My Horse Loves Donuts 🍩🐴

Sometimes the best moments at school are the ones you could never plan.

Our K–1 writers drew an animal they liked and then gave me one sentence they wanted everyone to know about it. One little writer very seriously offered:

“My horse loves donuts.” 🍩🐴

Meanwhile, our 2nd–6th graders were busy figuring out just how many different ways they could make 24—using addition, multiplication, breaking numbers apart, and discovering how one idea can lead to another. Then they took to the whiteboard to show some mathematical thinking of their own.

Little writers finding their words, bigger kids finding patterns, and apparently at least one horse with a serious love for donuts.

I’d say we covered the important stuff. 😂

Last Monday’s Meet & Greet was such a wonderful way to kick off a new school year. ❤️

Families, grandparents, board members, our Title I reading specialist, and our superintendent joined us for street tacos, and it was so good to have our little school buzzing again.

The best part, though, was seeing the kids. There were big smiles, the biggest hugs, and so much excitement about being back at school. They found their names waiting for them at their tables, checked out the new classroom rug, caught up with their friends, and met the two newest members of our Seneca crew—two bunnies —thanks to Mrs. Raymond (formerly Miss Anderson!). 🐰🐰

By the end of the evening, our last registration was complete, the kids had thoroughly explored everything new, and it felt like school again.

Two more sleeps. Monday, here we come! ❤️
