Feelin' Lucky Today...

This time last year we had moved to online learning and gone were the excited giggles and smiles that came along with holiday themed days at school. So this year I'm soaking it ALL in!

I felt extra lucky to spend the day with 15 wonderful children. We enjoyed reading St. Patrick's Day books, graphing marshmallows, and writing about the ways we are lucky.
This student hit the nail on the head when she wrote "Getting to go to school makes me feel luck."

It isn't always easy. It isn't always glamorous. If I'm being honest it can be down right tiring and frustrating at times. But when everything changed this time last year...it made me really realize just how lucky I am! I 💚 teaching and I am feelin' lucky today! How about you?

I scream, you scream we all scream for ice cream! 🍦🍦🍦

This money activity was so engaging and fun for my class. The idea is that studens show different coin amounts to build/draw an ice cream cone. At the end they get to design their own. They were practically begging to do more! 🍦🍦🍦

It might have actually been raining today, but we kicked off Read Across America Week with Maui to Myrtle beach day! We enjoyed our read to self time today by laying on our beach towels beside the clear blue water. We listened to our digital library, made book marks, took a readers oath, read The Lorax and The One and Only Bob - It was a great day!
I ♥️ to see my students excited about reading!

We will be finishing up our subtraction with regrouping unit this week. I always find that this is a tricky one for the kiddos to grab a hold of. We start with
✏ Place Value Blocks...then
✏ Models...ending with
✏Abstract algorithms

This is one where I feel like you really see it when kids have that (ah-ha) 💡moment!!! 👏👏

I ❤ this Penguin! This week we will end our penguin informational unit with some fun fictional Tacky the Penguin read alouds. Today we read the original text and we will see what else happens to Tacky during the week. These books are great for:

🐧 character traits
🐧 compare & contrast
🐧 problem and solution
🐧 story structure
🐧 social emotional

Pup's first snow! In the south when we get a little snow that only sticks for a day it's a big deal! I loved watching Penelope play in the snow for the first time today.😊
