🍦 Science got a little sweeter in Mrs. Barry’s fifth-grade class! Students explored changing states of matter by turning liquid coffee creamer into solid ice cream using ice, salt, and plenty of shaking! 🧊🔬

Our fifth-grade scientists made predictions, observed changes, and discovered how losing heat helps a liquid freeze. What a COOL way to learn about matter! ❄️

As Superintendent, I must make all decisions with the safety and well-being of our students and employees in mind. We all know and recognize that weather conditions can be unpredictable and forecasts may change quickly.

After careful consideration of the latest weather information and the potential for inclement weather in our area, I cannot risk anyone’s safety, as again, the weather conditions currently remain extremely unpredictable. Therefore, all Mobile County Public Schools campuses and offices will be closed on Friday, October 9, 2026. I completely understand that closing schools can create challenges for families, and I do not take that impact lightly.

I appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we navigate circumstances that are ultimately beyond our control. Please continue to monitor official MCPSS communication platforms for any additional information or updates.

🎃📚 PICK OF THE PATCH! 📚🎃

Allentown’s Library is excited to kick off our October AT HOME Reading Challenge! 🍂📖

Activity forms went home with students this afternoon, Monday, October 5th. The goal is simple: encourage our Gators to read at home! 🐊💚

📚 Each day your child reads for more than 15 minutes, they can color one pumpkin on their reading challenge form.

🎃 Once they’ve colored all 20 pumpkins, have a parent/guardian sign the form and return it to the library no later than Monday, November 2nd to earn a special library prize! 🏆

Keep those pages turning and those pumpkins filling up! 🍁🎃📚

Need more information or didn’t receive a form? Please reach out to your child’s teacher for more information or to request a replacement sheet.

🍎🍏 It was an APPLE-SOLUTELY awesome day at Allentown on Friday!🍏🍎

Johnny Appleseed and his special helper came to visit and shared all kinds of fun apple knowledge with our students! 🍎 They even showed students how an apple press works, and everyone got to sample some fresh homemade apple juice!🧃🍏

The apple fun continued all around campus with counting, measuring, exploring, and lots of hands-on learning!📏🔢🍎

Mrs. Lipscomb and her students made the day extra sweet by making homemade applesauce, practicing subtraction with Apple Jacks, making apple slinkies, and enjoying an apple juice tasting!🥣➖🍏

Learning + apples + a little fall fun = one fantastic day at Allentown! 🍂❤️🐊
