Selmer Lady Lions Claw To Victory Thanks To Big Fourth Inning Against Bethel

The Lady Lions were the first to get on the board in the second when Drinkard doubled, scoring one run.

Selmer was able to add one run in the third after Stassi Morris flew out to right field.

In the top of the fourth. Chloe Johnson doubled to center field, helping the Lady Rebels tie the game at two.

In the bottom of the forth inning, the Selmer Lady Lions scored six runs, helping them defeat the Lady Rebels 8-2. Madi Beth Drinkard doubled, scoring two runs. Bethel's Chloe Johnson induced Aubrey Cook to hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run. Makayla Barnes drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored another run.

Makayla Barnes earned the win for Selmer. The righty surrendered three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking five.

Madi Beth Drinkard led the Lady Lions with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The infielder went 2-for-2 on the day.

Selmer will travel to Decatur Middle School next Monday for their next contest.

Selmer Lady Lions Take the 15-0 Win Over Michie Lady Blue Devils 🥎🦁❤️🩶

Selmer Lady Lions earn the win over Michie Lady Blue Devils 15-0 on Monday.

The Lady Lions got on the board in the top of the first inning after Aubrey Cook singled, scoring one run, Makayla Barnes singled, scoring two runs, Elisabeth Eaton doubled, scoring one run, and an error scored another run.

Selmer scored seven runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. Stassi Morris drew a walk, scoring one run, Makayla Barnes singled, scoring one run, Kennedy Henson singled, scoring two runs, Ady Mae Childers-Mitchell doubled, scoring one run, and Madi Beth Drinkard singled, scoring one run.

Selmer extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Riley Gibbs and Greenlee Caroll.

Makayla Barnes earned the win for the Lady Lions. The starter surrendered one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking none. Nealee Moore pitched two innings of no-run ball for Selmer Lady Lions in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out five and walking none.

Selmer Lady Lions accumulated 11 hits in the game and showed great patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Jazelle Barnes stole two bases. Meredith Jones made the most plays with five.

The Selmer Lady Lions will host the Lady Rebels on Tuesday evening at 7 P.M.

Our SMS Lions were victorious over the Ramer Eagles last night in a sweltering contest of football! Final score 12-6!! Great way to start the season!
