🏁 COLLABORATION IN ACTION! 🐯📚

Our 2nd Grade Team is showing what it means to work together and put scholars first!

Today, Ms. Tyson led ELA instruction across all 2nd grade classes, creating consistency and a shared learning experience for our scholars. Meanwhile, Ms. Williams, Ms. Wade, Ms. Brooks, and our support team provided targeted small-group instruction, pushing scholars toward mastery and deeper understanding.

This is team teaching at its best—teachers leveraging their strengths, supporting one another, and using small-group instruction to meet scholars where they are and move them forward. 💙🧡

Math thinking was on full display in Ms. J. Williams’s 2nd grade class! 🧠💭

Our students were engaged in a Number Talk, sharing their ideas, explaining their thinking, and listening to the strategies of their classmates.
💬 Number Talks help students:

🔢☀️ Math Spotlight in Ms. Washington’s & Mrs. Jones’s Kindergarten Classes! ☀️🔢

Our kindergarten mathematicians are building strong number sense through daily Number Talks and Calendar Math!🧠✨

From counting and recognizing numbers to discussing quantities, patterns, and relationships, students are learning that math is something we can talk about, explore, and make sense of every day!
💬 Number Talks encourage students to:
🔹 Share their mathematical thinking
🔹 Explain how they know
🔹 Listen to classmates’ strategies
🔹 Build confidence with numbers
📅 Calendar Math gives students meaningful opportunities to practice counting, number recognition, patterns, days of school, and so much more!

📐 4th Grade Math in Action! ✏️

Today, our 4th graders explored how arrays/equal groups can be used as a bar model when multiplying! 🔢✨

Why does this work? Both models represent equal groups and help students see multiplication as parts that come together to make a total.
🔹 Arrays use rows and columns of objects or dots to represent equal groups.
🔹 Bar models (tape diagrams) use rectangular bars divided into equal sections to represent those same groups.
🔹 Both models help students break a multiplication problem into parts and make their thinking visible.
💡 Math Coach Tip: When students can connect different representations, they build a deeper understanding of whymultiplication works—not just how to solve it!
