Siskiyou Field Institute We are proud to offer high quality programming for all ages. SFI provides a wide variety of courses on topics from climate science to mushrooms.

The mission of the Siskiyou Field Institute is to increase the understanding of, and connection to the Klamath-Siskiyou ecoregion through education, scientific research, and public engagement. Welcome to the Siskiyou Field Institute, SFI, where people come to learn about and explore the amazing Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion, a land of steep mountains, wild rivers and unusual diversity of species and habitats. SFI is a conduit for scientists and naturalists to share their passion and knowledge with the public each year through Adult Education field courses and SFI Youth Education Programs. Appealing to kids in our community, curious teens, developing professionals or lifelong learners, there’s something for everyone at the Siskiyou Field Institute. Siskiyou Field Institute also facilitates researchers and other academic groups during the field season. Our location allows all students and scholars immediate access to the world-famous serpentinite and old-growth forests of the Klamath-Siskiyous.

A huge thank you to Ashland Food Co-op for awarding Siskiyou Field Institute one of the AFC community grants!

These funds will go towards the Siskiyou Community Lands Project which aims to support the development of a Pasture Management Plan that allows SFI to use our pastures for livestock grazing while complying with the terms of our Conservation Easement.

Join us and Tyler Roger’s for another FREE community education seminar on October October 5th!

This presentation will showcase many native plans endemic to the Klamath bioregion, and how they evolved. It will also cover the natural and colonial history behind the region. There will also be discussion around the threats against public lands, what’s at stake and how we can advocate for them.

October 5th from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm at Siskiyou Field Institute at 1241 Illinois River Road in Selma, OR.

Join us for a special lecture with scientist, educator, and author John (Jack) Muir Laws! His framework for nature journaling opens doors to rich discovery, creative thinking, and deep connection to place – and it’s accessible and welcoming for everyone. All you need is a notebook, a pencil, and your curiosity.
