Before she became President, Dr. Donitha Griffin was a first-generation college student finding her own way. Today, she shared that journey to help others guide the next generation. ❤️💙

Wallace Community College Selma President Dr. Griffin served as the keynote speaker at the Alabama Student Success Organization’s annual conference at Alabama State University. This year’s theme is “Success 360°: Academics, Wellness & Career Readiness.”

Her presentation, “Be the Lighthouse: Finding Your WHY — and Helping Students Find Their Way,” encouraged educators to help students see what’s possible and understand how to get there. She also emphasized caring for their own well-being as they support others.

We’re proud to see our President representing Wallace and sharing a message rooted in the power of education to change lives.

This is just another way we are Building Pathways. Creating Opportunities. Changing Lives.

Wallace’s impact starts before students arrive on our campus. 📚

WCCS and Alabama State University serve as an AMSTI regional site, supporting K–12 teachers with math and science instruction across our region.

In Perry County, math proficiency rose among third, fourth and fifth graders between the 2022–23 and 2024–25 academic years. Fifth grade proficiency climbed from 3.57% to 38.89%.

Behind the numbers are teachers, coaches and specialists working to help students build stronger skills. We’re proud to highlight this progress toward closing proficiency gaps in the Black Belt.

The students wanted a rematch… and our faculty and staff came ready! 😂🏆

Faculty and staff took the win again in today’s kickball showdown, but the whole Wallace family enjoyed a day of food, fun and friendly competition! President Dr. Donitha Griffin left the kickball competition to our students, faculty and staff, but joined in for the food and fellowship! ❤️💙

A special thank-you to Duane Evans and Zeb Lee for working the grills and to everyone who helped serve our students!

Beyond the game, students connected with admissions, financial aid, student success, voter registration, Phi Theta Kappa and student ambassadors to learn about resources and ways to get involved.

Students, we’ll let the faculty and staff have the bragging rights today. Keep bringing that energy to the classroom! 😉

Behind every pink ribbon is someone’s story. 💗

Today, our Wallace family walked to honor breast cancer survivors, remember loved ones we have lost and show support for those still facing the disease.

Students, faculty, staff and President Dr. Donitha Griffin came together for Pink Out Tech, bringing a shared message of love, remembrance and awareness to our campus.

To everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer: you were in our hearts today. 💗

This is another way we’re building pathways, creating opportunities and changing lives.
