The Selma-Dallas County Chapter of LINKS, Inc. held its Graduation Ceremony honoring the seniors who participated in the 2025–2026 Youth Empowerment Program (YEP). The virtual sessions for this program were integrated into business classes across surrounding high schools.

Throughout the year, students engaged in informative presentations on a variety of topics, including healthy eating and food preparation, personal finance, bullying prevention, family insurance, financial aid, scholarship opportunities, and more. While all students participated in and benefited from these sessions, the seniors were specially recognized and honored with a graduation celebration.

The following seniors from Selma High School completed the program and were celebrated as YEP graduates: Ahmad Harper, Daryl Tillis, Kenneth Jackson, and Sha’Miya Webster (Not pictured). Pictured with student are Dr. Patricia Robinson, LINKS, Inc. President, and Mrs. LaShanda Taylor Youth Empowerment Program, Director. Also pictured with the Selma High School students is Patricia Farrior, Selma High School CTE Business Department Chair. The graduation message was given by Selma High former graduate, Atty. A Night in Emerald City

The Selma High School Air Force JROTC (AL-091) invites you to the 2026 Military Ball — an evening of tradition, excellence, and celebration.

Join our cadets on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM in the Selma High School Cafeteria for a formal ceremony, dining, fellowship, dancing, and cadet recognition. This special night highlights leadership, discipline, and the proud military traditions that define our JROTC program — one of our outstanding Career & Technical Education pathways.

Tickets are $25. Dress in your finest formal attire in Emerald, Royal Blue, Black, or Gold.

We are proud of our cadets and the leadership they represent in Selma and beyond.

During our 2026 Black History Month Program, Selma High School reflected on the strength of our past, the courage of our present, and the promise of our future.

This powerful visual presentation was created by the Selma High School CTE Digital Media and Digital Marketing students under the instruction of Mr. Togo Coles.

Through storytelling, design, and media production, our students illustrated how:

• We honor those who came before us.
• We recognize the sacrifices that shaped Selma.
• We accept the responsibility to lead forward.

From history…
to resilience…
to achievement…

Our Saints understand that the community once leaned on the children of the Movement — and today, the community can lean on us.

HOSA Socks of Love – Let’s Finish Strongly!

There’s still time to make a difference!

Selma High School HOSA – Future Health Professionals, under the leadership of Sponsor Jessica McGuire, are continuing their Socks of Love Community Service Project through the end of February. Students are collecting new socks for the elderly, one of the most requested and least donated necessities.

In the photo, HOSA students are joined by Selma High School Assistant Media Specialist Shawn N. Cole, showing what collaboration and community support look like in action.

We encourage parents, students, faculty, and community members to continue donating and help us close out the month with strong support. Every pair donated provides warmth, dignity, and care to someone in need.

Donations can be dropped off in the Health Science Classroom through February 28th.

Let’s continue spreading love across Selma — one pair of socks at a time.

Bryson and Jeremiah proudly participated in Dress for Success Day as part of National CTE Month.

These two outstanding scholars are showing what it means to prepare for the future today. With two photos each, they are not just modeling professional attire — they are modeling confidence, leadership, and readiness for the careers they are working toward.

In Career & Technical Education, we teach more than content. We teach presentation, professionalism, communication, and preparation. Dress for Success is a reminder that how you present yourself can open doors to opportunity.

Today, the Digital Marketing and Digital Media students of Selma High School humbly present tribute slides honoring the lives and legacies of Rev. Jesse Jackson and Ms. JoAnne Bland.

These two civil rights giants dedicated their lives to justice, courage, and the empowerment of generations. Their voices helped shape history — and their impact continues to guide our students today.

We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to their families. Selma stands with you. The Saints stand with you.

We’re excited to launch the very first edition of Tell Us Tuesdays, a student-driven series that gives our CTE scholars a platform to share their voices, ideas, and perspectives. This project is a real-life example of Career & Technical Education in action—where creativity, communication, and technical skills come together beyond the classroom.

A special thank you to all of the participating students who stepped up with confidence and authenticity to make this debut episode possible. Your voices matter, and you showed exactly what CTE students can do when given real opportunities.

Huge shout-out to JaDarius Tyus for his outstanding editing work on this project. JaDarius is a student in Mr. Coles’ Digital Media class and serves as the President of FBLA, continuing to lead by example through both skill and service.

This is only the beginning—stay tuned for more student stories, real-world experiences, and CTE excellence.

Socks of Love in Action!
Our Selma High School HOSA – Future Health Professionals students are showing what service and compassion look like in real life. Through their Socks of Love Valentine’s Day Community Service Project, students are collecting new socks for the elderly—one of the most needed but least donated items.

Donations are being accepted all month long in February and can be dropped off in the Health Science Classroom.
Let’s come together as a community to spread warmth, dignity, and love—one pair of socks at a time.

✨ Career Inspiration in Action! ✨
Last week, our HOSA and JAG students—under the guidance of Mrs. Jessica McGuire (HOSA) and Mrs. Ashley Stewart (JAG)—had an amazing opportunity to hear from Drs. Carl and Dominique Shamburger, who shared their journeys and expertise in the field of dentistry.

From discussing their career paths to offering real-world insights and encouragement, the Shamburgers gave our students a closer look at what it takes to succeed in the dental profession. 🦷💡

A huge thank you to Dr. Carl and Dr. Dominique for pouring into our students and helping them explore new possibilities for their futures! And special thanks to Mrs. McGuire and Mrs. Stewart for continuing to provide meaningful learning experiences for our HOSA and JAG students.
