Another High School Wind Ensemble Institute is in the books at Susquehanna University. This was our 10th anniversary year and it’s been a joy to share my passion for wind band music and music in general with so many talented musicians over the last decade. A special thank you to saxophonist Joshua Heaney (class of 2015) who attended the Institute as a high school student. He helped us celebrate with a wonderful performance of Catch Me If You Can by John Williams, arr for alto saxophone solo and wind band by Jay Bocook. This year’s Institute was made even more special by the wonderfully talented students from PA, NJ, NY, ME, CT, MD, and VA. You guys were fantastic...in rehearsal, in performance, in class, in the halls of CCMA...so eager, so open, so responsive, so respectful! Thank you for an unforgettable week! Thanks also to our great counseling staff and faculty and to Sara Adams, Mgr of Music Admissions. You all rocked it last week!!!!! Already looking forward to 23-29 June 2019!!!!!!

Each summer, 54 gifted woodwind, brass and percussion players are invited to High School Wind Ensemble Institute, a summer performance experience for high school students. During this week-long program, students live on campus and focus on chamber music and symphonic wind ensemble performance. In addition, each student receives private lessons from our distinguished faculty. This summer the Institute takes place from June 24 thru June 30. For more information contact Dr. Eric Hinton at [email protected] or (570) 372-4296 or to apply online, go to www.susqu.edu/windensemble.
