River Hawks helped the Live Stake Collaborative reach a major milestone: 100,000 live stakes collected, the equivalent of nearly 40 acres of streamside planting across Pennsylvania. 🌱

Each semester, Susquehanna students across all majors earn class credit and volunteer hours at stake collection events, contributing to a network of more than 1,000 volunteers and 3,800 service hours. Founded in 2019 by Susquehanna, Chesapeake Conservancy and several state and regional conservation partners, the collaborative plants branch cuttings from wetland trees and shrubs along streams to stabilize banks, prevent erosion, filter nutrients and support wildlife habitat.

Every Susquehanna student carries something forward — knowledge, friendships and experiences that last a lifetime. Now, you can help the next generation do the same. 🧡

This June, we’re working toward one goal: 630 donors by 6/30. Every gift helps support the scholarships, programs and opportunities that make Susquehanna special.

As a thank you, everyone who makes a gift of $10 or more will receive an exclusive Susquehanna tote bag while supplies last — a symbol of carrying your Susquehanna pride forward.

Did you know Susquehanna has a Living Herbarium on campus? 🐟🌱

Located behind Steele Hall, the Living Herbarium was transformed in the 1980s by student John Clark ’86 and Professor Jack Holt into a fern garden with native plants. The garden supports ferns and seasonal flowers that attract birds and insects, and a pond provides a habitat for fish and frogs.
