Speaker to reveal the 'tantalizing bits' of Lewisburg history LEWISBURG — There is a man in Colorado who knows more about the history of Lewisburg than, perhaps, anyone in Lewisburg.

Dr. Ed Slavishak is writing a book set in Virginia in the 1920s. It traces the connections between driving, bootlegging, and roadbuilding out in the country. His current challenge is chapter 3, which is focused on the life of prisoners in the road camps dotted across the state. He has joined a faculty writing circle, hoping that peer pressure will force him to finish that chapter by the end of the semester. Past and current students have contributed to this research by scouring newspapers, taking notes on primary and secondary sources, and building spreadsheets!
