As landfilled food waste breaks down it generates methane, a greenhouse gas that's much more potent than carbon dioxide. Composting is a great alternative for disposing of food waste. It not only produces a nutrient-rich fertilizer that can be added back into the food system, but also helps to conserve water and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Did you know that the food waste collected at Evert doesn't end up at a landfill? Instead we've partnered with a local pig farm who takes our food scraps to keep their pigs happy and well fed. 🐷🥕🥒🍞
