🧡 **Every Child Matters Day — Orange Shirt Day** 🧡

On **Wednesday, September 30**, Selfridge Public School will wear orange to honor children who attended residential schools, remember those who never returned home, and recognize the lasting impact on families and communities. Every child matters.

**Our schedule for the day:**
• Speaker Ricky White: K–6 in the morning and grades 7–12 in the afternoon
• Community March: 11:25 a.m.
• Student dismissal: 1:00 p.m.
• Staff session: 1:15–3:30 p.m.

We encourage students, staff, and families to wear orange and join us for the Community March. 🧡

Selfridge Public School’s **Successful School & Life Skills Class** is looking for community members from **Selfridge, Fort Yates, and Porcupine** who would be willing to share a special skill, talent, hobby, or activity with our **Junior High and High School students**.

📅 **Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays**
⏰ **2:30–3:30 PM**

Do you enjoy cooking, sewing, arts and crafts, woodworking, fitness, music, culture, traditional skills, mechanics, outdoor activities, technology, career skills, or something else you think our students would enjoy learning?

We would love to have you come in and share your knowledge and talents with our students!

Today, our Selfridge students put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work by making **homemade kites using dowels and garbage bags** for their STEM project!

And guess what… **THEY ACTUALLY FLY!** 🙌🪁

📚 **Selfridge Public School JH – Building Stronger Readers with Amira!**

Our Junior High students are working hard using **Amira**, our online reading intervention program designed to help students improve their reading fluency, accuracy, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Students work directly with Amira to practice reading skills at their individual level while receiving immediate feedback and support.

We are proud of the effort our JH students are putting into strengthening their reading skills! 📖💪

1st Quarter Midterms were handed out to our **JH/HS students today**. Parents and guardians, please ask your student to show you their midterm report and take a few minutes to review their progress together.

**Elementary Midterms** will be sent home with students by their teachers **before Friday**.

Fun was had by all—except maybe the Study Hall students! 😄

🎨 Arts & Crafts created Diamond Art
🤖 STEM built mini robots
🍽️ Cooking Club made ham and cheese sliders
🏀 Athletic Club played basketball at the park
💬 Small-Group Counseling met
♟️ Chess Club sharpened their skills

Our 8th Hour program gives students opportunities to learn new skills, explore their interests, build relationships, and have fun!
