Good morning everyone

At the close of another year, I want to take a moment to speak from the perspective of safety—something that is at the heart of everything you do. Each one of you answers the call not because you have to, but because you choose to serve. You choose to step into uncertainty. You choose to protect others. And with that choice comes incredible bravery—bravery that deserves to be honored and protected.

This year, we faced challenging calls, tough conditions, and moments that demanded courage, and quick thinking. Through it all, you looked out for each other. You trained hard. You spoke up when something didn’t look right. You stayed disciplined when it mattered most. That is what keeps us strong, and most importantly—that is what keeps us alive.

As a Safety Officer, our mission has always been simple: “every firefighter goes home. Every time”. That means making safe choices, trusting your training, watching out for the person beside you, and never forgetting that every life on our scene matters—including our own.

But none of this happens alone. Families sacrifice alongside us. They wait, they worry, and they support us with patience and love. To our families, thank you. Your strength is part of our strength.

What inspires me most about being a Safety Officer is not just the calls we answer—but the way we take care of each other. The way we check in after a tough incident. The way we train together. The way we stand together as one team, one family, committed to protecting our community and each other.

As we enter the holiday season, I hope you find time to rest, to be with those you love, and to recharge. May your holidays be filled with peace, health, and warmth.
