📣 Arrival & Dismissal Reminders for Viking Families! 💙💛

As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, we want to thank our families for partnering with us to create safe and efficient routines for our students. Please take a few minutes to review these important arrival and dismissal procedures before the first day of school!

🌅 MORNING ARRIVAL

-Please do not drop students off before 8:35 a.m. Staff supervision begins at 8:35, and students arriving before that time are not supervised.
-The lower playground is closed before school and is not available during morning arrival.
-Beginning at 8:35 a.m., students may enter through either the main entrance or lower entrance.

🚗 AFTERNOON PICK-UP

-Teachers will walk students in lines to their designated dismissal areas: parent pick-up, walker zones, or the bus lane.
-Bus release is our priority. Buses are on a tight schedule to complete their routes. Cars may be directed to exit the pick-up lane while buses are parked or have already departed. When buses are moving to exit campus, cars will be held until buses have safely exited.
-Please use the pick-up map below to identify where to pick up your student(s).
-Students are dismissed at 3:15 p.m. We kindly ask that all students be picked up by 3:30 p.m.

⭐ OTHER GOOD STUFF TO KNOW

-Keep the area at the top of the stairs near the House 1 hallway clear so students can safely use the crosswalk.
-Please do not block crosswalks or the entrance to the bus lane.
-Pick-up lanes are for active loading only. Please remain in your vehicle and be ready to move once your student is safely secured.
-If the parking spots are full, please park and walk to meet your student or loop around until a space becomes available.
-The front lot is reserved for handicap parking only, and a visible placard is required. Families without a placard should use the upper or side parking lots.
-The ramp is one-way and for school and authorized vehicles only. Please wait until all buses have finished arriving or departing before driving through or exiting the area.

Dear Selah Intermediate School Families,

We are excited to welcome our students and families back for another amazing school year! We have a few important updates to share as we prepare for the first days of school, so please take a few minutes to review the information below.

A New Beginning for Our 3rd Grade Students
Starting at a new school is a big milestone, and we want to make that transition as positive and comfortable as possible for our newest Vikings.

This year, we are introducing individual family conferences for all incoming 3rd grade students before school begins. Rather than attending regular classes on the first two days of school, each 3rd grade student and their family will meet one-on-one with their teacher. Please note that the official start date for incoming 3rd graders will be Wednesday, September 2, 2026. This is not a late arrival day, so the start time will be at 8:45.

During the conference, students will have the opportunity to:
-Meet their teacher in a relaxed setting.
-Visit their classroom.
-Bring their school supplies.
-Learn classroom routines and expectations.
-Ask questions and become familiar with our school before the first full day.

Our hope is that every 3rd grader walks into school on their first day feeling confident, prepared, and excited to begin the year.
Teachers will begin contacting families on August 25 to schedule conference times.

¡Nos emociona dar la bienvenida nuevamente a nuestros estudiantes y familias para otro maravilloso año escolar! Mientras nos preparamos para los primeros días de clases, queremos compartir con ustedes algunas actualizaciones importantes. Les pedimos que se tomen unos minutos para leer la siguiente información.

Un nuevo comienzo para nuestros estudiantes de 3.º grado

Comenzar en una nueva escuela es un momento muy importante, y queremos que esa transición sea lo más positiva y cómoda posible para nuestros nuevos Vikingos.

Este año, implementaremos conferencias individuales con las familias para todos los estudiantes que ingresan a 3.º grado, antes del inicio de clases. En lugar de asistir a clases regulares durante los primeros dos días de escuela, cada estudiante de 3.º grado y su familia se reunirán de manera individual con su maestro(a).

Tomen en cuenta que la fecha oficial de inicio para los estudiantes que ingresan a 3.º grado será el miércoles 2 de septiembre de 2026. Ese día no será un día de entrada tarde, por lo que el horario de inicio será a las 8:45 a. m.

Durante la conferencia, los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de:

-Conocer a su maestro(a) en un ambiente tranquilo y acogedor.
-Visitar su salón de clases.
-Traer sus útiles escolares.
-Aprender las rutinas y expectativas del salón.
-Hacer preguntas y familiarizarse con nuestra escuela antes de su primer día completo de clases.

Nuestra meta es que cada estudiante de 3.º grado llegue a su primer día de clases sintiéndose seguro, preparado y emocionado por comenzar el año escolar.

Los maestros comenzarán a comunicarse con las familias a partir del 25 de agosto para programar el horario de su conferencia.

Remember to mark your calendar and submit your topic and be ready to have a conversation with Kevin tomorrow, Wednesday, January 7! We know you have questions and Superintendent, Kevin McKay, will host a community roundtable conversation to bring parent and patron voices together to discuss Selah School District issues and educational happenings. The roundtable event will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Selah School District Board Room. Hope to see you there!
