(Reposted from his sister: Harriett Snider Koen) My brother Richard Douglas Snider passed away this evening at 9:47, Monday, August 4th. He was 79 years old, and was looking forward to his 80th birthday on November 6th. He was quite a character! He loved teaching music -and had a plethora of friends. He was one of the finest musicians I have ever known. We fought a lot as children, yet truly loved each other. Our love matured and grew in mutual admiration through the years. If you did not know him, he was so much fun, had a great personality, yet I called him a “Crumudgeon” in his senior years—- kind of a grouchy ole man… but had a loud bark yet was a sweet heart of a guy deep down. Please continue to pray for Richard’s wife, Sandy, their daughter Britten (46) and her husband Brooke, and their two sons, Beckett and Ellis of Seattle, Wa. And also pray for Richard and Sandy’s son, Miles Snider (41). This is a mighty tough time in all of our lives. I will miss him so much!

Roberta “Birdie” Blumberg Kuempel, age 80 of Seguin, Texas, passed away on September 21, 2024. Birdie was born on October 10, 1943 in Seguin, Texas to Nola (Behrendt) and Robert Blumberg.

A lifelong resident of Seguin, Birdie graduated from Seguin High School and earned her degree in education from Texas Lutheran College. It was there that Birdie met the love of her life, Edmund Kuempel, to whom she was married for 45 years until his passing in 2010. Together they lovingly raised their two children, Margaret and John, and devoted much of their lives to the Seguin community. Birdie worked a number of years as a middle school teacher until retiring after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her determined spirit and tenacity were unmatched. Birdie was known for her colorful personality — reflected in her clothes and in her home, which was always decorated in the spirit of the season. Birdie enjoyed many hobbies over the years including bridge, needlepoint, gardening, and her monthly book club and was an active member of the Legislative Ladies Club. Always up for a welty around town or a drive along country roads, Birdie, a proud wife and mother, loved her family and was a steadfast presence in their lives.
