This past year, Martin Elementary students had some fabulous visits from Chef Steve and the Chartwells Team! Students enjoyed learning about nutrition, cooking, and eating together. We are so grateful to have a partner in school nutrition that cares about our students' health and wellness, and one who shows it through community involvement.

⚽️ Game Changers ⚽️ Seekonk High School Welcomes Two New Soccer Coaches for the Fall Season

SEEKONK, MA — Superintendent Rebecca Kidwell and Seekonk High School Principal Dr. William Whalen are proud to announce the hiring of Joseph Medeiros as the new Head Coach for the Boys’ Varsity Soccer program and Jason Gouveia as the new Head Coach for the Girls’ Varsity Soccer program this fall. Medeiros and Gouveia bring a deep passion for the sport, as well as a commitment to character-driven leadership.

A Southcoast Conference alumnus with a strong understanding of the league and the talent within it, Coach Joseph Medeiros is ready to lead Seekonk Boys’ Soccer.

Medeiros’s vision for the program stretches far beyond the pitch. He is dedicated to fostering a holistic environment where young athletes can thrive both athletically and personally.

"What drew me most to the head coaching position at Seekonk was the opportunity to build a program centered on values that I believe in, while also being able to create an environment where student-athletes can grow as soccer players and individuals during an important part of their lives," said Medeiros.

For Medeiros, the appointment represents a homecoming of sorts. He previously competed as a player in the very same conference Seekonk plays in, giving him an insider’s understanding of the local soccer landscape and the high level of competition the team faces.

"I am especially excited about the opportunity to coach in one of the area's most competitive leagues, a league that I competed in when I was a player," Medeiros added. "Having firsthand experience with the level of competition within the conference makes this opportunity more meaningful."

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Medeiros has clear, ambitious benchmarks for his squad. His immediate focus is to establish a foundation of discipline, effort, and mutual respect, while simultaneously aiming for the top of the standings. The Seekonk Athletics community is incredibly excited to welcome Coach Medeiros.

Seekonk Athletics welcomes Coach Jason Gouveia, who comes to us with ten years of coaching experience and deep roots here in town to lead Girls’ Soccer.

For Gouveia, taking the helm of the Warriors’ program is a deeply meaningful homecoming, bringing his soccer journey full circle right back to the community where it began. Growing up in neighboring East Providence while spending a significant portion of his youth in Seekonk with his grandmother, Gouveia has always maintained a strong connection to this community.

"When the opportunity [to coach in Seekonk] became available, I knew it was one I wanted to pursue," said Gouveia. "Coaching at Seekonk is an opportunity to give back to a community that has meant so much to me while helping make a positive impact on the next generation of student-athletes."

Gouveia’s immediate focus, as he steps into the role, is centered entirely on human connection and trust. He views building strong relationships with his players as the catalyst for competitive success on the pitch.

"I’m looking forward to building strong relationships and creating a positive, competitive environment where everyone enjoys coming to practice, works hard, supports one another, and continues to improve every day. I’m excited to see what this group can accomplish together and to help each player reach their full potential both on and off the field."

As the Warriors prepare for a highly competitive fall season, Gouveia is excited for the future of this program. He wants to maintain a competitive mindset focused on developing technical skills and fighting to win every single game, while also nurturing player confidence.

"Of course, we want to compete and win every game, but just as importantly, I want every player to develop their skills, grow in confidence, and finish the season having grown not only as soccer players but as people," said Gouveia.

Seekonk’s Dean of Athletics and Programs, Kay Manigan, looks forward to the upcoming fall season and thinks there is a large opportunity for a strong partnership to form between the two programs.

“Both Coach Medeiros and Coach Gouveia currently coach with the New England Revolution Academy and share similar coaching philosophies centered around player development. Seekonk soccer has a strong foundation in town, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the future holds with two head coaches who bring similar values and experiences to our athletics department,” Manigan said.

Please come on out to support the Warriors this fall. Schedules are visible on arbiterlive.com.

This summer we'll be "playing our greatest hits from '25-'26," and there's no better place to start than with the two-out double that pushed SHS Baseball ahead in the state championship. The weather today might be too hot for a game, but this moment was one of our best in the past year.

WORCESTER — For the third time in four years, the Seekonk High baseball team reigns over the MIAA Division 4 field, achieving the feat with a finish that will not
