Flight from Mordor is coming to Silo Park! This event was created by teens from Concrete Prevention Posse to make sure teens and families have fun events to do together over the summer. Last year was the first year and we had four teams, this year we hope to have even more.
How it all works:
Step 1: Form a team (friends, family, neighbors, aged 12+). You need a minimum of three people to make a team and maximum of eight. Bring flashlights for each member.
Step 2: Meet at Silo Park at 9 pm on Saturday, August 15th. There we will register each team, give out maps and explain all the rules in detail.
Step 3: Play the game, the goal is to work with your team to complete a variety of tasks at stations between Silo Park and Veterans Memorial Park. Nothing is extreme for the tasks; for example, one task is keeping a balloon up in the air and moving it across a section of grass without touching the ground. No activities have crawling or high physical demands. There are volunteers at each station to talk to your team about what to do.
When your team completes the challenge, you receive a gem. You need to collect four different-colored gems from different locations. This game follows Lord of the Rings, so there are Nazguls in the forest; if you see one, your team freezes. If you don't, they will demand a gem from your team, and you lose time to go back and complete the task again.
Step 4: Complete the tasks, collect all four gems, and be the fastest team to reach the end at Veterans Memorial Park. Prizes for the first three teams.
Last year we had a team complete the tasks and reach the finish line at Veterans Memorial Park in 24 minutes, so this year we are making it a little harder. It's a lot of fun, but it can be a little spooky for the 11-and-under crowd. Maps will be given out to teams that show the boundaries of the game and what the Nazguls look like. This event is completely free and fun! I hope you can join us. Have questions? email [email protected]
