There’s something special about going to sleep beneath a sky filled with stars. ✨

For our students, living in a Dark Sky Community means that the night sky isn’t just something we admire in photographs—it’s part of everyday life. It’s the view on a late walk back to the dorm, the quiet wonder of looking up after a busy day, and a reminder that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves.

Protecting our dark skies helps preserve that sense of wonder—for our students, our community, wildlife, and generations to come. Here, the stars are part of what makes this place feel like home.

Student Ken Shi '28 (from our Shixi School semester program) "harvested" this fascinating photo of the moon over VVS during the Mid-Autumn Festival. This is a time for eating moon-cakes, lighting lanterns, moon-gazing with friends and family, and retelling the Legend of Chang'e: the graceful moon goddess who flew up to live on the moon, accompanied by the Jade Rabbit.

Incredible talent, proud families, and amazing live music. Our IB Music students shared their skills and soulfulness on the Brady Hall stage. At VVS, music classes are a respected and cherished part of the academic curriculum and a great way for students to collaborate and put themselves out there. Meet your 2026-27 VVS Horsemen! Think of them as the RAs of the barn: every year two upperclassmen equestrians are selected for this role. Their responsibilities include assigning and helping to complete barn jobs at the end of each night, as well as helping new and young riders with learning the ways of the VVS equestrian program. This school year, Naica Karekezi and Vance Greenfield are our Horsemen, selected for their exemplary horsemanship, kind and compassionate leadership styles, and dedication to the VVS Equestrian Program since their freshmen years at VVS.

A beloved school tradition, Coffee House is an open mic night where community members come together to share their talents, enjoy performances, and celebrate creativity.
