What if light could become art?

For Sedona artist Desi, it can. Working from her cozy Sedona studio, Desi creates one-of-a-kind luminary art that explores the relationship between light, color, and atmosphere. Her work is designed to make you feel something—“warmth, wonder, maybe even a little magic.”

Desi’s practice is a beautiful reminder that art doesn’t always have to hang on a wall. Through fabric and light, she creates pieces that transform the feeling of a space and invite us to experience familiar materials in a different way.

Her work is part of the diverse community of artists represented at Sedona Arts Center, where visitors can discover artists working across more than 20 different mediums.

Stop by the Gallery Shop in Uptown Sedona and discover the artists, materials, and ideas that make every visit a little different.

New Work by Mary Lois Brown Has Arrived

The landscapes of Northern Arizona have long inspired artist Mary Lois Brown, and her newest paintings invite viewers to experience the beauty, atmosphere, and quiet wonder of the places she knows so well.

Working in oils, Mary captures the ever-changing light, color, and mood of the landscape with an impressionistic approach rooted in years of plein air painting. After returning to oil painting in the late 1990s, she continued to refine her craft through workshops and painting excursions throughout Arizona, including the Grand Canyon—one of her favorite and most enduring subjects. Today, her work reflects a lifelong fascination with the natural beauty of the Southwest and the moments that make each place unforgettable.

Visit the Gallery Shop to experience these new works in person and discover original art by more than 100 talented artists represented by Sedona Arts Center.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, purchases at Sedona Arts Center are sales-tax-free—nearly a 10% savings—while directly supporting artists, arts education, exhibitions, and community programming. It’s a meaningful way to take home original art while investing in the creative community.

Artist Spotlight | Holly Stedman

What does freedom look like through the eyes of an artist?

In this Artist Spotlight, Holly Stedman shares the inspiration behind her work, Resilient Dignity, an Honorable Mention award winner in Sedona Arts Center’s Freedom exhibition.

A stained glass artist for more than 35 years, Holly is known for creating luminous windows, sculptural works, and kiln-formed glass that capture what she describes as “clarity, richness, and sparkle.” Inspired by a lifetime of adventure—from the High Arctic and the Caribbean to the Grand Canyon—her work reflects a deep appreciation for both the natural world and the resilience of the human spirit. Holly has shared her expertise through commissions, exhibitions, teaching, published articles, and her book, Splendor in the Glass: Creating Stained Glass Beyond the Ordinary.

In Resilient Dignity, Holly brings her signature approach to the theme of Freedom, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and consider the quiet strength found in perseverance and hope.

On view in the Special Exhibition Gallery, Freedom brings together artists from across the country exploring the many dimensions of personal, political, cultural, and creative freedom through painting, sculpture, photography, glass, mixed media, and more. The exhibition celebrates the power of art to inspire conversation, challenge perspectives, and foster meaningful connection.

Visit the Special Exhibition Gallery and experience Freedom, on view through August 16.
