Then & Now

In these photos, you will see children in Montessori classrooms from as early as 1916 alongside children from SMS over the past several years. More than a century separates these images, yet the Montessori philosophy and materials remain the same.

While the world has changed dramatically since the opening of Casa dei Bambini in 1907, the developmental needs of children has stayed remarkably consistent. Dr. Maria Montessori carefully designed these materials to support hands-on exploration and independence. More than 100 years later, Montessori schools can still be found all over the world, a testament to the lasting relevance and effectiveness of her approach.

We are proud to honor her philosophy by providing a thoughtfully prepared environment where children can grow and learn.

As we prepare for the new school year, we're excited to welcome a new group of children and watch many of them experience Montessori learning for the first time. There is something truly special about seeing a child connect with materials that inspired curiosity and confidence for generations.

School begins August 6th, and we can't wait to see what this year brings!

This week was filled with creativity, imagination, and so much joy. Our small, intimate group of young artists worked hard, supported one another, and truly poured their hearts into every project. The results were absolutely beautiful, one-of-a-kind artwork that each child was immensely proud of.

It was so special to watch their confidence grow as they explored new techniques, expressed themselves freely, and had so much fun along the way. Moments like these are what make our camps so meaningful. 💛

As our summer programs conclude this week, we want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the families who signed up and trusted us with your children. You made June especially memorable, and we are so grateful to have shared part of our summer together.

We are already counting down the days until next year’s Camp Alottafun and Ms. Emma’s Art Camp!

💐 Thank You, Families! 💐

A heartfelt thank-you to the families who showed such incredible appreciation for our teachers this week. Our classroom looked beautiful filled with vases of flowers, and we were spoiled with coffees, juices, matchas, cookies, chocolates, pastries, and delicious breakfasts, along with some of the most thoughtful, sentimental and generous gifts.

The heartfelt cards written by your children meant the world to us. Our students and teachers share love, kindness, and appreciation with one another all year long, but this week, we truly felt that love extended in such a meaningful way from our families as well. Please know how deeply grateful we are for your generosity and the time and effort you put into making this week so special for us.

We also can’t believe there are only two weeks of school left. How bittersweet this time of year always is! 💛
