Secondary Division-Marshall Public Schools This page will feature information from Marshall High School and Bueker Middle School. Bueker Middle School is located at 565 South Odell and houses grades 6-8.

Marshall High School is located at 805 South Miami and houses grades 9-12. The first school was built in 1849-50 for $250 on South Odell. Controversy existed into the 1870’s over whether elementary education was a function of the church or state. The court house burned during the Civil War in 1864, so there is very little factual school information that exists before this time. In 1881, Benton School was the first school where students 1st through 8th grade attended. There were a few high school classes offered as well.

At this point, we’ve learned two things during Homecoming Week: People on team Bueker are VERY good sports…and knowing the song does not necessarily mean you know the next line.

It may be a jungle out there, but we wouldn’t want to navigate it with anyone else.

Our BMS 8th graders traded the classroom for the great outdoors during their annual field trip to Van Meter State Park. Students spent the day learning about Lewis and Clark, Native American history, and the natural world around them.

There were WAY too many great pictures to choose from, so a video montage was the only solution.

A big thank you to our BMS teachers and staff who helped make this tradition another great day of learning, exploring, and making middle school memories.

We’ve got a BLUE feeling at BMS today… and we mean that in the best way.

Team Bueker showed up dressed in blue and once again attempted to finish the lyric.

As the song warns, “Don’t step on my blue suede shoes”—so consider this your warning: admire the blue, but whatever you do, don’t step on the shoes!

Tomorrow we head into the jungle, but today we’re BLUE through and through. 💙

Ms. McMillan’s Crime Case Studies students have been learning the importance of fingerprints in forensic science and how investigators can use fingerprint evidence to help connect people to crime scenes.

Students got hands-on by taking their own fingerprints, identifying friction, ridge patterns, and comparing their prints with their table partners. Lots of fingerprints were left behind!

A little more Homecoming Week fun at BMS.

Our teachers understood the assignment today. Some brought the moves, some brought the spirit, and a few brought some surprisingly impressive kicks. 😂

If Team Bueker can kick it like this, we’re feeling pretty good about our Owls kicking the competition at the Homecoming game. 🏈

Beyond his valuable technical knowledge, Wesley’s dedication to MPS truly sets him apart.
