SMS loves Sedalia Parks & Rec. and appreciate their support in writing our students back and providing them with day passes and stickers of our favorite squirrel, Libby! We love the support we get from our community! !
We received a fun surprise in the mail this week! 📬
Several 4th grade students from Sedalia Middle School were tasked with writing persuasive letters to a local business or organization...and Sedalia Parks & Recreation was lucky enough to receive a few of them!
Students shared thoughtful ideas about pools, parks, recreation opportunities, memberships, and ways to make our community even better. We were especially impressed by the strong reasoning, creativity, and care they put into their letters. While we may not be able to fulfill every “ask,” we truly appreciate these students taking the time to share their ideas and vision for Sedalia’s future.
A special shoutout to Zayne, Hokulani, Audrey, and Jonathan for their wonderful letters and community spirit. 👏
Thank you for reminding us that great ideas can come from any age and that the next generation is already thinking about ways to make Sedalia stronger, more fun, and more connected.

Due to inclement weather, the 5th-grade park day was relocated indoors. The staff organized a variety of activities, including cotton candy and popcorn production, archery, axe throwing, soccer, and basketball. Coach D oversaw the grilling of hot dogs, while students enjoyed soda, chips and cookies. Each team participated in enjoyable classroom activities.

🧡 Character Strong Assembly at Sedalia Middle School! 🧡
May’s Character Strong trait is CREATIVITY, and our Tigers are finishing the school year strong by thinking outside the box, expressing themselves, and bringing new ideas to life as we head into the last day of school on May 20th.
Creativity means using your imagination, trying new things, and finding unique ways to solve problems. It’s about being curious, open-minded, and confident in sharing your ideas with others.
Our Tigers are proving every day that creativity isn’t just about art… it’s about how you think, learn, and grow. These Most Valuable Tigers (MVTs) were recognized by their teams for showing innovation, originality, and a willingness to take positive risks.
Way to go, Tigers! Keep thinking big, inspiring others, and showing what it means to be as we wrap up an amazing school year! 🐯
